Dietitians apply the art and science of human nutrition to help people understand the relationship between food and health, make healthy dietary choices. The job duties of a dietitian include collect, organise and assess data relating to the health and nutritional status of individuals, groups, and communities; interpret and communicate scientific information, advice, education and professional opinion to individuals, groups and communities; or manage nutrition care for individuals by planning appropriate diets and menus.
Dietitians may specialise in patient care, health education, food industries, nutrition research, sports nutrition, public health nutrition, or treating diet-related diseases.
To become a dietitian, you would require a bachelor and postgraduate degree in dietetics accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Registration or licensing may be required.
